Nightbreakers gone again
Just replaced the second of the pair of Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited which I'd fitted last November... gone within a month of the first one. On a positive note; that's consistent performance.
Only on for a twice 40 minute commute through the winter, plus a few days Christmas trips. Disappointing and to be honest: although you can notice they are whiter, it gave me no practical benefit since the roads I drive are mostly lit by street lamps and many other cars. So I have now pot in Philips eco vision long life - they also rated fairly well in terms of light output on the survey posted on these forums. Let's see... |

Up on the ramps
Reattached the cat heat shield (might need washers the size of tea plates next time ) fitted the SS decat exhaust front section and seeing as there's no oil change now till winter, put the new shiny undertray on

Tried and failed to get the donor car collected, apparently no scrap firms have hiab wagons anymore
A man I've never met is coming tomorrow with his home made car trailer and I'm going to put it on that with the help of a stout rope and my van

Fitted an inline Renault 5 thermostat from DMGRS to my diesel ZT this evening. Relatively straightforward although I ended up removing the manifold to give me more space to work. Worth it in the end and all went well. Car is now warming up nice and quickly and cycling between 84 and 89 deg C (was only getting to 75 deg before). Thanks to this forum for providing the info, know how and inspiration to get stuck in and tackle the job.

Clayed & waxed the car yesterday. Decided to leave polishing for next time as claying took so long (first time in the car's life it's had it done!).
Came out this morning to find bird $h1t all over it - thankfully it wiped off fairly easily. Also got the windows polished and a Hardridden smiley plate fitted today. Will have to come up with another solution for hiding the scratches in the window glass though... |

Gave away our donor car to some madman who turned up with a caravan chassis as the car trailer At least I've got the drive back so now the wife will stop shouting at me
