Photos taken around Rochester Cathedral, could this really have been the inspiration for Gundulf the Grey in The Lord of the Ring? Lol

It certainly is Simon. It is a PBY-6A the last version produced.

Wasn't the main Base for the seaplanes (Flying boats) at Pembroke Dock, South Wales?
