So if they are available in continental Europe, I wonder when their release in the UK will be?

The European side of their sales seems to be more biased more towards the continent rather than the UK and Ireland. There is an english version of the site, though.
I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't pay €1000 for one of these - even if the radio did work properly

I certainly won't
Depending on import duty, the USA variant (and price) is certainly attractive, whether or not the radio works properly. I daresay it could be easily corrected with a firmware upgrade anyway, assuming the tuner is digital. |

No sign of the unit being delivered as yet. The USPS tracking still shows it in customs but I don't know how updated/reliable their tracking system is.

I usually find it takes a good few days to be on its way from the States.
If I ever use snail mail I'm always back home before the Letter arrives (or forgotten Birthday card, Ouch). |

Update on delivery of the package:
It has finally cleared customs after three days of incarceration . Not looking good for escaping duties, I think. Anyhoo, its now out for delivery so I should have it today at some stage. More info later.... Here is a live European model on eBay if anyone wants to take a punt http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=018

Hi John
Do you mean to clear customs at the US side or over here? According to USPS tracking, the package arrived here in Ireland on the 8th and was not released until last evening (the 11th). This is my first time getting anything this large from the US, but from reading on a few BBS, 24 hours seems more normal. Maybe they were admiring the unit for a few days Or trying to figure out how to change the tuning step
