Hi Artic. Just to say a big thank you. Compensator arrived on Wednesday, fitted it on Friday and have posted the old one off today.
The difference is all I could have asked for, with the drums adjusted and cleaned the handbrake is now working on three clicks.
Thanks again.

Big thanks to Arctic!
New compensator arrived in the speediest of times before the weekend. Thankfully my carpets have been out drying for the past fortnight (plenum story for another day) so the swap was a five minute job.
Three clicks and only 20mm thread on the handbrake adjuster required. Lovely!
Old stetchy back in the post. Thanks again.

I've received my compensator today and will be tackling the job soon, but while reading Steve's excellent how-to I noticed that my trim on the rear door seal (kicker plate?) Is different (mine being a facelift) is there any special technique to releasing the carpet from that area without breaking anything?

Thanks

The plastic trim just hooks onto two mushroom shaped trim fittings. Take a piece of wood and a hammer and tap it gently towards the front or the rear - it will only move one way. One side unhooks moving it to the front, the other to the rear.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Cheers Harry, so it's pretty much the same as the earlier type, but under rather than over the inner part of the door seal?

Hi John
With the face lift they are even easier to remove the carpet kicker, just lift the rubber and then gently lift the carpet kicker roughly centre and it will come away from the clip, in fact I will pop out and take a pic of mine now and post it Arctic.

Then put it all back nice
