Sorry to correct you Brian, but Amphanol is nothing to do with AMP connectors who are now owned by the giant multinational TYCO.

AMP was originally Aircraft Marine Products founded in 1941 to make electrical connectors for ships.

Sorry, AMP's an abbreviation. They are a huge international electrical terminals designer/manufacturers - Aircraft Marine Products, founded in the US early years of WW2 (had to look it up).
Lost sight of the mergers/buyouts over the past few years but in 70's/80's/90's....in Europe they were known for a long time as Ampliversal - top of the range for everything automobile/aircraft-aerospace/computers/marine...etc. so they should be good enough for MGR.
My point was that the poor plugs get blamed for all this to-do with our SRS and there is a lot of home spun b..l s..t as to the reasons and solutions. Stick to the TB's and you'll be right - imvho

Don't wish to be contentious but the terminals are crimped so what is that "dries out". The foam story claimed that the seat moulding after some time 'out gassed'; now that's possible and someone on here may repeat exactly what the noxious gas stuff was but certainly the 'new' smaller AMP plug/socket design was fitted with crimped, gold plated terminal pins - gold plated not because of the bling but because gold does not oxidise.....thus no small build-up of resistance etc. unless that is the engagement pressure is somehow reduced!
Stick to the TB's, MGR got it right in the end.
