Yes, still come if you can in another car, or perhaps catch a lift with another member

Hi Steve, unfortunately no. I have said to the wife I could do with a little runaround, but the wife said no to me having a MGF in BRG She said I have no justification for 2 lots of vehicle excise duty and insurance loll. I think she might have a rethink, now she has lost her personal taxi.

An Audience With...
I'm delighted to announce that as part of the club's National Meet 15th Anniversary festivities, long standing and respected club member Rincewind will be joining us for a Q & A session about his years working for MG Rover Group at Longbridge.
Nic Fasci, as he is known in the real world joined MG Rover in April 2001 as an Homologation* Engineer who "looked after" MG TF, MG ZT/ZT-T 260, Rover V8 Auto and parts of MG SV, as well as the 75s of course. One of his first jobs was to go to Millbrook and take the new tourer rear seats for a seat strength and seat belt anchorage test in the first few weeks of May. He said it was really close as the first few body shells were due to hit the real production line assembly literally 15 minutes after the end of the test so they were desperate to make sure that the seats passed their strength test..... which they did thankfully. Nic has been involved in many aspects of production at Longbridge, he was one of those responsible for assigning the VIN number configuration for our cars, had first hand experience in the Monogram Programme, was involved with the Project Drive initiative forced in from the masters above and was there from day one of the design and development of the V8 ZT 260. So if you'd like to know what went on in The Sewing Room, Flight Shed, Body In White Plant or CAB1 buildings or how our speedometers were calibrated, come and join in for an Audience with Rincewind to be held in the conference room at the Heritage Motor Centre around 2pm on the day of the National. They'll be plenty of opportunity for you to fire questions at him, the more the merrier in fact as he says the little grey cells are getting rusty after all these years and need a good jog. Nic now works as a Type Approval Engineer for the Vehicle Certification Agency, so if you have any questions about current vehicle safety standards or testing he would be happy to answer those as well. * Homologation meaning to approve or confirm officially the certification of a product or specification to indicate that it meets regulatory standards. There are companies that specialize in helping manufacturers achieve regulatory compliance. Their services might include the explanation and interpretation of standards and specifications, assistance in plant facility audit and approval, testing and certification of materials, product design consulting, and translation of manuals, legal mandates and other written material. |
