Ha ha you and me both Brian. But not tomorrow - that is shed building day with the Daughter up at the farm.
Thursday is looking like clutch day, but I'll have to put it in the 'Didn't Do' thread, as it's me Dad's Astra, which is a G3 and so another subframe dropping job. Much preferred the earlier Astras. His clutch went down a country lane, and the RAC took a couple of hours to recover him, so I tipped out and took me Mum back home and went back to wait with him for the Recovery to turn up. Bloke kept staring at us from his bungalow garden and then came out to tell us he was taking my reg number, as there had been a few robberies in the vicinity of late and you can't be too careful. We must look a bit shifty in the Landy then - but me Dad is 88, so even if he had led a life of crime (which funnily enough he didn't) he surely would have retired by now. . Was going to change oil, But could not shift the sump plug, Of course my socket set didn't have a 15mm socket so I tried with an open ended spanner but snapped it.

Always use ring spanner or socket. Open ended spanners seem to round the bolt head off. if tight give it a tap with a rubber mallet or put a bit of tube on spanner for more levering. Or buy a pela pump

Got my cruise control working, both clutch & brake switch's needed resetting. Also got the boot opening from the switch inside, took switch out, bit of wd40 & put back together, perfect. I like this car alot, only cost me 400 quid.A pleasure to drive.

I drained my plenum today (not a minute too soon), fixed the fuel flap so now it's secure when the car is locked, and did my fluid checks. Considered getting a towbar fitted for some sort of travelling shelter. |

Did the oil change today, w5-30 premium L. Produced in Russia from Gasprom £27 for 8 ltr's. Funny it took exactly 6 ltr's when I had it done at a garage they charged me for 7 ltr's . Also new foam on the undertray and fitted it securely, Only had 5 torque bolt's the rest was plastic thingymajigs. Wont be going to that garage again.
