Weekend just gone I:

Set a new Personal Best time for getting the bumper off.
Fitted two new polystyrene front bumper inserts (missing when I got the car).
Completed change of interior, boot and number plate bulbs to LED.
Fitted chrome indicator bulbs all round (bye-bye fried egg effect).
Looked impressed at the vast improvement in my bonnet release brought about by liberal application of white lithium grease.
Rodded out the plenum drains again. removed the blanked off one on the O/S and fitted a blanking grommet (domed grommet doesn't attract gunge like the concave original part).
Admired the sterling work being done by Jules' plenum leaf-guard.
Cursed roundly as postman arrived with new piece of front bumper trim minutes after I'd decided he wasn't coming and re-fitted the bumper.
Sat staring at the wall working out if there is a viable way to remove damaged trim without removing bumper or whether to just snap the clips and bin it.
Went to the pub and stared morosely at the wall because a) there was nobody there to talk about 75s, and b) that realisation made me realise how sad I've become

What was it Brian, were you changing the wheels to Steel versions, and had to strip the rear out just to get to it

That;s the $1000,000 question........ the seats were wet because there was an inch of standing water in the seat well, but that is due to the car standing pointing down hill with a leaky boot.

As the yellow orb was in the sky, I decided to strip out the boot, the rear seats, etc and wash the inside of the car.

I then progressed onto the usual suspects, both waist trims were removed, and sealed, the rear window finisher clips done with Captain Tolleys creeping crack cure, after a careful cleaning and drying off underneath the rubber apron area.

The boot board was scrubbed with bleach to kill off the spores I found under the carpet, which in turn was scrubbed with antibacterial cleaner and swilled with copious quantities of hot water, then hung out to dry.

The side boot liner trims were similarly cleaned and treated over the past couple of days, and are now bone dry and smelling nice and fresh.

I have a PPD boot carpet to go in temporarily after reassembly while the original dries out

As we speak, I have a small fan heater running in the boot with the windows open a couple of inches.

It should be noted that this car has not been used lately, so fortunately there was no wash over into the bilges under the rear carpet......phew !!!

Last chance saloon (Groan) for this car, if I can't cure the leaks, I'm going to get shot of it

Brian
