I think it depends on the area you live in, and what sort of things you encounter. Around here, there are very few speed bumps, and I reckon they might well contribute to the issue.

So I wonder how the local roads haven't contributed to the demise of springs on other car I own then Fraser?

How many posts have we read on here over the years talking of front springs snapping?

I don't suppose you have a pair of ZT front springs in your vast array of Rover stock by any chance?

My Mum's former Merc got through no fewer than nine springs in her ten year ownership. I think it's just a problem with modern cars, in general, unfortunately.

I don't think I do, as I think I only have 75 Tourer ones left, but I'll have a look and report back.

The only car I owned that had broken springs was a lovely Vauxhall Royal I owned way back. ( Vauxhalls version of the Opel Monza)

I'd had the car a couple of months and took it for MOT only for them to find both front springs were broken. I hadn't noticed when driving it..

Rover 75 05 reg

Two new front springs fitted at 86,262 due to n/s snapping.

Two new rear springs fitted at 90,940 due to n/s snapping.

Rover 45 bought with 4,000 miles 2006, no broken springs at 121,000 miles. And still going strong

I cherish my 75 but agree with Brian that the 45 is far less high maintenance and is more reliable due to a better build quality.
