was that balance or power VIS Bill? Or was it both? I ask as my balance VIS is shot, and I have the new one ready to fit now, wondering if I can look forward to stopping at a few less petrol stations?

It was the Balance VIS Motor. The one that has the most difficult screws to get to... Make sure you use the right size/type Phillips as they damage quite easily. Should make a lot of difference as this is the one that generally gets used the most, ie low down revs/power. Good luck.

Changed the rear springs on the ZT using a different method which was far far easier than the last time I did the job.
Disconnect dampers as per usual, unclip the flexible hoses from their central mounting points. then slacken off, but do not remove all four rear subframe mounting bolts. Then on the side you wish to change the spring, remove completely the two subframe bolts on that side. This allows ample room to remove the old spring and refit the new one, then loosely refit the subframe bolts Repeat for the other side. Now for the time taken to do this.......fifteen minutes per side. Compared to the last time I did the job which required removal of the rear anti roll bar to allow the upper arms enough room to drop down to allow replacement........four and a half hours of struggling with rusted fasteners. Thanks to the R40 Guru that is Terry Shaw for this top tip Brian |

Did my regular coolant level check on my daily driver MG ZT saloon one hour after a longish hot run today. The engine was still quite warm to touch so I was not surprised to hear a gentle brief "shuush" as I progressively and slowly undid the Coolant Expansion Bottle Pressure cap. That I expect in a normal healthy engine.

Hi John. Hope you do not mind me saying but from your coolant looks to be a tad high, compared to these pics below. In my opinion this tank would need a bit of coolant adding. Once that little bit of coolant as been added you should see this, also nice a clear
