Glad you liked it John - thought "he" looked cute and well worth featuring.

Sorry never got the chance to have a chat with you last Sunday.

Cheers

Excellent video! I enjoyed the meet and it was nice to meet up with fellow 75 owners for the first time! Here are a few photos that I took. They're not all that great though, but nevermind!

Just seen Jim's video of the plenum chamber operation - very useful, especially as I am the world's worst mechanic (I didn't even know that plenum chambers existed). I gather that having them full of water is Not A Good Thing as they can cause something called an "ECU" to fail. (I reckon that must be something electrical, and probably expensive.) I'll go and check mine forthwith.

Cheers, Jim! You have saved my from my ignorance.

Hi Steve,

Yes indeed, the ECU is the "brains" of the car and, being an electronic black box, really does not take kindly to a bath.

Do a good search here on Plenums and you will find plenty. Definitely a regular check needed, and if you hear a sloshing when you turn corners, do it immediately.

Good to see you both last week, even if it was only briefly.

Cheers,

Derek

Hi, Derek

Cheers for the info. I've been asking a mate of mine who knows a bit more than I do about cars (actually, pratically everyone I know fits that description) about plenums etc. and he says that I have also things called "swirl flaps". After a trip to the doctor drew a blank I questioned him again and he said that they're something to do with the air intake into the engine and that if they fail, they can be ingested into the engine and this is also Not A Good thing. Apparently some people weld them up... However, my friend is an Alfa Romeo enthusiast and therefore addicted to welding; this advice may simply represent an instinctive reaction on his part.

I shall research swirl flaps on the forum as well. Ain't it great to belong to a club with so much expert advice on tap from so many helpful people! Here's looking forward to some good runs next year.

All the best
Steve
