An odd thing did happen while I was fighting with the ECU cover trying to get it to fit the fan for the FBH suddenly started ran for a few seconds then shut off .

have discovered that the three cross head screws to remove the air intake just spin and do not undo and there is a squeek some where on teh rear suspension so will try dousing the rubbers and shok bottoms in silicone spray.

The other annoyance is that I cannot remove the chrome boot plinth as the two central studs are spinning in the alloy it has to come off as one boot light is non operational and the plinth is a little wobbly so need to find a good replacement.

BTW Blue the MGF passed her MOT once I fitted the MG/Rover OEM CAT.. those new ones were obviously faulty.
Unplug the FBH Kevin, if it fired up at random it is suspect, and will cause you K-Bus issues.

In regards to the air intake screws chop them off, and replace them

Something like this perhaps

Here is what the EGR valve and manifold was like:-

Took the whole inlet manifold off and cleaned it our best I could:-

Including the hose to the EGR valve. She now starts even easier. What struck me as odd was when I removed the air filter cover there was a bright white new filet inside. Also fixed the number plate lamps so both work so I think we are about ready for an MOT. That is if we can get insurance sorted so far am getting stupid quotes one was for £1600 and lot at around £600-£700 and I have 14 years NCB.

Well she is now MOT'd as well. Local chap fitted the arm bush and this morning the replacement boot plinth arrived so have just fitted that. Needs a decent badge butt hat can wait. My time spent removing the headlight was time well spent as the beam pattern is now correct.

So now it is gather more funds to bring her really up to scratch we have some scratches to have sorted out oh yes and connect the tow bar electrics.

Great to see you are making good progress on this one Kevin, I'm sure there will have been many others with similar problems that have been needlessly scrapped
