I dont think I explained it very well, they were not passing anything! There was nothing in the inside lane. The ladies who do pass something do move over again. However these offenders (both male and female - although it is mainly female I am afraid to say) are the ones who move into the outside lane for no reason (quite often with a deliberate and sudden movement).

Often happens where I drive at work... I stop for pedestrian crossings. Always. However quite a lot of motorists- not drivers- can only think about passing the bus. So; they often attempt to pass the bus and discover not only the crossing but also the pedestrian/s on it... Last week a young family was damn near taken out like this.

Hi All

Many years ago I recall following a car up a slip road off a dual carriageway A5(D) Milton Keynes.

Luckily it was not too busy at the time. The car in front must have been touching 45 or 50. All of a sudden the back door opens and out falls a 6~7 year old girl. Stand on the brakes! Thankfully I was at some distance behind so no risk of finishing the poor thing off.

We both came to a stop by this time I was shaking like a leaf. The driver of the other car. She brushed it off as an "Oh Dear never mind". Incredulous, you bet I was. "Hadn't you better take her to the hospital" etc. " No she will be fine it's no problem". And then get this, "She has done it before"!!!! ****** speechless or what

Child locks seat belt booster seat not on your life (or the poor little girls)

In situations like these the What Ifs go through your mind. The worst of it was the sheer indifference, carelessness that she displayed left me so angry and shaken that I had to stop for half an hour to calm down. It was a nightmare I will never forget or forgive. Just writing this brings it all back

Back in the day I was using one of the firm's Volvo Estates and had parked up at the local supermarket to get some lunch. Was about to reverse out of the bay and something caught my eye briefly in the rear view mirror at the base of the rear screen.

I waited and sure enough a toddler walked out from behind the car. Breathed a big sigh of relief that I'd seen him and not run him over and then realised he was heading for the car park exit and a busy main road.

Got out of the car and legged it after him and managed to grab him just as he stepped off the pavement.

Took him back into the supermarket where his mother was laughing and joking about losing her boy.

How close she came.

Shocking!

If you had hit that poor child through no fault of yours - you probably would be scarred for life.

Shocking

Same to move into the outside lane on a motorway. Not very hard to do if you are concentrating, not using a phone, or putting your makeup on.
Remember the old Government training films about driving on motorways? "Don't be a Weaver bird" was one of them which sort of contradicts what you stated.

Oddly enough, I haven't had one of these for ages - then today I was coming out of local Asda along the main exit route when a woman in Golf came sailing out right in front of me - that was one of those "only time to brake" moments when you know it's really serious cos there wasn't even time to hit the horn. I had seen her approaching from the left, but I didn't realise she was going to -

1.Utterly fail to look to her right - if she had, she'd have had a perfect view of me.
2.Sail across the the very clear give way lines without looking.

I was parked outside Cambridge Corn Exchange one night supervising the local crew loading my truck after a show. As usual on a one truck tour it was taking quite a while to get all the gear out and by the time we finished it was about 2am. I walked round to the front of my LHD truck to see a body lying in the road with it's head just in front of my front nearside wheel. I grabbed some of the crew who were still around and dragged him out of the way. He was only a young lad, blind drunk and had no idea how close he came to having his head run over. If I had had a RHD truck I shudder to think what would have happened. It still makes my skin creep to this day.

I have many more traffic related anecdotes to recall as you may imagine after 30 years "0n the road" but they are going in my book which at current rates of progress will be very thin!

Driving through Carlisle town centre late in the evening, with the caravan on tow, I stopped for the lights. A young drunk decided to take a short cut between car and caravan, stepping over the A frame, just as the lights changed. Luckily I checked my mirror before pulling away.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.
