Many thanks for your comments.

For my footage I didn't use the full x55 zoom, I'd estimate that it was set to somewhere between x25-30, so I'm not sure what results you'd get taking it further. I found that the greater the zoom the more the image degraded, it has to be noted that the CX320E's sensor is quite small at 3.1mm and at 1080p is only resolving 2.29 mp, hence the poor quality magnified image. I'd love to try one of these for it's large sensor and 14.2 mp resolution but that's not going to happen!

I was all set up to have another attempt last night but as the moon rose the cloud rolled in.

Have to agree with you on that Phil, loved the atmosphere of the shot.

Best
Jim
Thanks Jim for the pointers in using the zoom. I tried the zoom lens converter and it was not very successful for the reasons you explained. With the extra wide angle lens converter, there is some vignetting around the edges, but this is fairly easy to readjust. Luckily they fit the handy cam, being from the Sony mini DV.

Intrigued Phil, are the converters you have clip on or screw in, I ask as the CX320E doesn't have any lens screw mount unlike my previous CX105E.

Jim thank you, I just double checked and see they screw in. I will bring them with me to Duxford.

An admirable attempt Paul, but there is a lot of pixel distortion with definition losses. Can you not see it?

Yep, but with a 200mm mediocre lens and a heavy crop it aint bad.
