Glad this has helped someone - I'm still loving mine! Brilliant upgrade, and I've had zero issues with it since fitted.

Hi
Ive bought Becker BM24 module after reading posts as upgrade on my Highline HK system. Any advice on fitting this - and what do I have to be careful about. Thanks David |

No, the problem is finding a suitable replacement, with better specs and the same pin layout, it just doesn't exist: the pin layout on on all these amplifier ICs is different. I think it would be easier to remove the power amp, take the line signal from the pre-amp to an external aftermarket power amp. But that is a lot of hassle, I actually hit quite lucky on Ebay and picked up a 1999 BM24 for not too much money. The sound is better, not sure that I'd say light years better, but a bit less woolly / muddy sounding. I may get around to the speakers as well, only time will tell.

Ignition off and boot open, just slide the radio unit out of the bracket, swear for a few minutes trying to get the plug off (lift the sliding part ALL the way) and then plug in the new unit, wonder why the new unit doesn't just drop in to the bracket, (it's a tight fit on both units) and persuade it into position. Put everything back (covers & trim) and you should be good to go.

My experience of going from hi-line nav system with HK, to DD then DD with HK system working, is this...
As original and all working, the audio was absolutely pathetic - very disappointing indeed for what it cost. Moving to just the bare DD, no HK amp, but the DD feeding all of the speakers except sub, made a dramatic difference. Once I got the DD working via the HK amp and sub, it became a very good system indeed. My conclusion therefore is that the original radio / amp was the weak part of the equation.

No need to remove the bracket, the tuner will slide out, but it can be a bit tight.
