I had an issue where my fan ran at high speed constantly after switching on the ignition. This ended up being that water had got into the big connectors just in front of the offside wheel arch. Very easy to separate the plugs, dry-off and reconnect.

this plug is sensitive to water ingress.

Yes we've a few cases but mainly the Chinese copy motors and plugs !
The OEM plugs are pretty weather proof.
We grease up any multi plugs we disconnect.
It gives them extra protection against corroding pins preventing bad connections in the future

Quite possible as the tiny wires bring the commands from the ECM .

BTW ,it is a way to check the system by connecting them to earth.

blue/purple = PWM
grey=trinary switch

Default Update

Just an update on this.
I never really got to the exact reason for the strange fan operation but went ahead and fitted one of Jules' Revotec fan kits and replaced control box relays.

So far fan is back to running correctly. Just to say the Revotec fan kit is excellent, the instructions supplied and help from Jules being first class.
Thanks

Thanks
For future reference to anyone experiencing similar cooling fan woes
I'd thoroughly recommend the revotec kit from Jules
Easy to fit and Jules is always willing to help with advice
