Red face Victimless crime...don't think so!

He was part of a violent criminal gang. They terrified and hurt the people they attacked. Some of whom were probably stressed and afraid of their own shadows for the rest of their lives. As one who was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (having been jumped by some idiots and ended up with a fractured skull,) I have no sympathy for them at all. I was afraid of the dark when on my own for years. I mean REAL FEAR ....not as in the Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark! It will never go away completely. It is not the punishment they got that was harsh but the current ones are lenient!
See him for what he was not what our media wants us to .....

Grrrrrrr

I cant make my mind up about him Mark, definitely marmite!
He beat the system and people will always admire him for that, but then again 2 people were beaten and later died after the robbery and then has the audacity to come back to the UK and feed of the NHS. I,m sure he is up there probably with Jimmy Savile, laughing his head off!!

Briggs was a thug who was not forced into getting on that train. The rest we know and the press made their own killing, as he made the news and manipulated it to his own ends. We had several run-ins with armed robbers on the farm this year, which I posted up at the time. It is something one never forgets, so please do remember the victims and what they had to endure afterwards.

Its not big and clever what they did , and i feel for the people who got hurt.
But on the flip side, you have got to hand it to them , they had pretty big balls to take the job on ...
if people hadnt of got hurt , then i would of said good luck to them..
it was all about hitting the goverment where it hurts , and they very nearly did it.

Its a difficult one.
Although a small part in a big crime he was never the less a player in the crime.

I personally have more sympathy with the family of the poor driver who was murdered by the late Ronnie Biggs friends

He wasn't murdered Simon, he got a clout on the head and never worked again and died about six years later.

If such a robbery had taken place today, I'm more than sure automatic weapons would have been used, and many deaths the result.

They litteraly pulled something off that shook the establishment and later regretted it. Each and evey person that touched that loot met a sticky end.

R.I.P Ronnie Biggs
I agree.
Ian Watkins, lead singer of The Lostprophets just did as it happens, today.
29 years Jail and 6 years on licence. Not to forget the good behaviour deduction which could mean two thirds of that IF HE GETS OUT ALIVE http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-25412675
Ronnie Biggs broke the law, did his crime and eventually served his time.
He is no criminal mastermind. People who burgle peoples houses and leave a trail of misery are worse. I am not sticking up for him because I try not to break the law. However, how the law stands and how it compares to pedophillia like Jimmy Savile along with the quote from above and its sentencing is beyond me.

Let the man R.I.P

If not I hope you all have a good rip at Leslie Granthem for all those who watch or knew someone who watched Eastenders when he was on screen as a convicted murderer who served 10 years for murdering a west German taxi driver.

Putting things in perspective is the key
