Remember to fit the metal Master cylinder when the time comes - gone are the days of £100+ plastic items. £69.99 now gets you a nice shiny metal item which should outlive the car:
Metal Master

I wish they were out when I had my first manual 75, that car ate 2 Masters within a year. I wasn't too happy!
I also experienced fluid coming out of the top hole, as a temporary measure I put a small sock over the Master to catch any fluid, it seemed to hold the relatively small amount that was ejected.

Are you saying you have no seal on the cap at all?

If so, that is why it is leaking out!

The advice is to cut the bulk of the condom away, but leave the top part, the seal part in place to form a seal for the cap. Otherwise if you fill it, it will slop to one side on the bends and flow out.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I'm not the only one then lol. Yes I will buy a new metal master cylinder when I have the cash next year. When you say a small sock, just a standard fabric sock? Child's one? I was thinking about putting a actual condom over the top of the lid, would this work?

Yes it would work OK. I read of a cut off balloon being used. The important thing is not to cover it tightly like shrink wrap. It must breath internally.

I agree that would work, but we will need video of it in action

Was thinking I could some how seal the hole in the cap but not sure how.
Having read all the posts I'd like to say that if the top seal is complete and in good working order NO FLUID can escape. The leak you had suggests a fault in the diaphragm.

Are you sure the leak is from the TOP ?? If it's just dripping down it could be the front piston seal leaking.
