Well hopefully mine will arrive today, notice of posting yesterday morning
So, an hour in Pain to get to Anyway, not as bad as OP's but certainly distorted, I have to say the design lends it'self to distortion, and the metal is absolute chocolate

Catch 22 with next comment... sorry yours is not so distorted...
However it does show they do as from my pics the replacement is flush up. I think there was one member that replaced there rear cables and found them to have stretched well the mechanic did.. |

You can only really get in and change the centre cable its a carpet up and metal plate off for the bracket, now if your fond of crawling it may be vissible by removing the rubber bung thats under it however thats remove heat shield job.

Seats forward so the lowest part of the seat squab is near the side screw, Press down on the squab and there was JUST enough room to get the phillips in at a slight angle

Absolutely not and what a pain, rear seat squab, rear door carpet trims, B pillar lower covers. Then tug and pull at the carpet to squeeze into the rear top screw and the front side ones on the plate

Look chaps - all this discussion still doesn't explain why the compensator is getting bent out of shape the way it seems. You would have thought that the pull from the lever (even winding the lever nut up too tight)would keep it in tension (straight pull) but it appears from James D's picture of new and old that there is an upward bending motion as well. If you replace one for one then there may be a possibility of the new compensator getting bent as well eventually - or is it that excessive adjustment on the nut under the lever is bending the compensator??? In other words - is the compensator being subjected to bending with normal operation of the lever??
