Very kind of you Ronnie. I don't mind buying some - on recommendation. Or taking some spares off your hands for a fair price. I'll PM you later (or tomorrow) and see if we can sort something out. . Right now I've got to get my stuff together for my weekly commute (Northampton - Harrogate).

Default LED Main beam update

Having now tested some LED 'bulbs' for the H9 main beam with the kind and generous assistance of Suzublu (thanks Ronnie). Here's my thoughts...

They're bright (shades required) First impression they give is that they are gonna be great.

They work instantly unlike HID Xenon (which is why we can't use HID for main beam).

Two problems rear their head though. First is that they are so much brighter than the Dipped beams that when they turn off (when you dip your lights) you are back to night blindness even with 35w Xenon projectors. (may not be so bad with 55w Xenon). The second is that due to the way they are made as a generic lamp with the various flange/fittiings attached , that the distance from the light source (led) to the reflector is not the same as the centre of the filament bulb to reflector distance, this makes them focus differently so the brightness is not 'thrown' forward sufficiently ahead of the dipped beams.

I do think though that the leds are certainly up to the job brightness wise and with better design going into the bulb as a whole with attention to the bulb dimensions matched with the specific bulb types that they would be brilliant. It may even be possible to adapt some of the current ones to sit correctly in the reflectors, in which case I'd try some again.

Once again thanks to Ronnie for allowing me to try them out.
