Broken down ... AGAIN!!

Under the starter motor there's a little wire that fits onto a standard square electrical connection tab I could not even see from above. It was partially corroded. All the RAC man did was pull it off and put it back on, in the time it took me to get from the front of the car to reach in and turn the key!!

He then spent about another minute pointing it out to me and giving it a good clean!

As soon as he did it the FBH sprang into life, as did the engine. I must admit it had me flummoxed, as there had been no apparent deterioration to normal starting even in the cold weather. Seems the car had decided that as it could not detect an engine starter there was no engine and that therefore nothing else in the engine compartment needed to work either!!

So something new for you all to bear in mind.... CHECK ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS AS THESE CARS AGE...

Very common problem on the smaller Rovers, I didn't realise that the 75s suffered the same.

I did say that members might find it an "interesting fault". Just hope that members can learn about this simple fix.

Actually I think that I should have posted this in the "Technical" section. Mods - if you wish - do your thing !!
