Cool!... Although I don't like light aircraft, although my son loves them.... He took one of these up last year from Bournemouth Airport for a bit of a 'Jolly'.... A RAF Trainer Aircraft.
Him on the Right: I see a Zephyr/Zodiac/Consul; an MG and is that your Singer or if it a Hillman? I remember my Dad had a Hillman California years ago.....

In the air cadets I clocked up God knows how many hours in the old De Havilland Chipmunk including aerobatics etc.

Ah, the venerable "Bulldog" Trainer. Spent many an hour elbow-deep in flight rigging and banging my head against the undercarriage, during the first year of my degree. |

You are quite right, the Singer Gazelle was a version of the Hillman Minx. It was restyled a bit and had extra goodies fitted. I think most of the shots of it would have been taken by my Dad's new fangled 8mm cine-camera that he had at that time (clockwork operated lol) Here is a library shot of one the same

The University Air Squadrons used them too. I remember when they were auctioned off, for peanuts. Although it would have cost a lot to get them put on the civilian register.

Reasonable flights are OK but any distance I find unbelievably boring. My wife is from the Philippines and whoever coined the phrase "long haul flight" knew what they were talking about. 14 hours with your behind welded to a seat watching films you wouldn't watch if they were on the telly. Used to get some excitement when the flight went via the old airport in Hong Kong, final approach was down the main street, you could look into the windows of the buildings as you passed.

Sorry, when I say hate I mean petrified...! Usually need a couple of tranquilizers and.half a bottle of vodka! And then I sit there with my head between my knees praying.... And they say knowledge is power, in this case more like knowledge is fear!!! It's horrible.
