The car is in tiptop condition engine wise. Also both the vis work. I'm really happy with that figure but as I say 99% of my drive is 70mph roads

The best I have managed with the Rover 75 V8 is just under 10km/liter.
That is 23.5mpg I think.

Hi Jim. Yes the old Rover v8 sd1 Van Den Plas was a great car. Used to enjoy driving it to my sons in Germany. Used to cruise around 80 mph all the way where we could. Four up full boot and got around 35 mpg.

I have owned black betty for 10.5 years and if you buy one of these and go after miles per gallon then the lord have mercy on you, about 7 years ago I had her down in england and on a full tank managed to get 26.4 mpg but on everyday running if I can get 325 -345 miles per tank I am happy,I would much prefer to talk or read about how stupidly fast you can get from a to b , steve m

Didn't buy the beast for its economy but it did surprise me! Anyway, MPG is far outweighed by the grin factor. As for how fast . . . . I plead the 5th amendment, refuse to answer in case I incriminate myself.

Interesting thread this one. Last Christmas I took my V8 to Ireland with four in the car and luggage. Toured all down the Wild Atlantic west coast and around the south back to Dublin, and on the way home took 5hrs 15mins to drive from Holyhead to Canary Wharf. Overall mpg over the ten day trip was just under 25 mpg - not bad for a superb touring car with a few extra herbs under the right foot.
