Brain, you know when you were a lad, learning to solder for the first time, and there was a guy somewhere, spoken of in hushed respectful tones, who never made a dry joint? Well, I am the proud owner of the only Rover 75 with dry floors. It’s about the only thing mine HASN’T got wrong with it.

Seriously though, I really, really didn’t like the way the connectors clipped together – I just didn’t feel confident they’d be reliable.

Having had my airbag light on for three years, I still dance a little jig every time I get into my car in the morning now, and watch it go out

i cleaned and put contact cleaner in as i was getting a light from time to time but was fine last few days so thought sorted, NOPE! the fecker came on during MOT so FAIL! *******!

does the solder job actually work 100% of the time. Going to get the seats out later and do it. Where are the seat sensors located when i take the seats out please. anything else to check if this dosent work?

From an ex-Glengormley man… there’s no guarantees, as it can be wet/corroded sensors (under the carpets apparently). But certainly soldering the connectors (or replacing them with decent ones) works for a lot of people, including me – and I NEVER have good luck.

There are four connectors in all, two under each seat… do them all if that’s the way you're headed.

The MOT’s particularly rough back home in Norn Irn I understand

lived in Carnmoney Rd for years when first married mate.
Are the sensors under the carpet actually under the seat? how do you get at these? im going to get this looked at tonight i hate failing MOT's
the MOT is tight here but its done 100% so nothing gets by which is great when buying or selling a car here you know its right. bought an Audi in Bristol a few months ago and it was just moted the day i bought it. When i got home from the drive to liverpool ferry i had no brakes left and the discs were scrap, ball joints badly worn, leaking CV boots. and a hole in the exhaust fail fail fail all day long but got a cert as passed

Heh - there are of course fake MOT certificates and dodgy testers here.

Never had to dig my sensors out, so don't know exact location I'm afraid - plenty of others here do though. Good luck...
