Hi Phil,
Sorry for being a tecno dino but what are we doing here? Seeing what is being writen it sounds as tho you have cracked the code of being able to access the car's 'puter without the need of a "T4" is that right or is there more to it than that? Please explain is words no more than one syllable. Al

i dont know if all you know but law is changing now so you will all be able to upgrade or install new software that dealers use ,they will have to provide via a download to your pc and with an interface your be able to do all that the t4 dose yourselfs ... this is true i will find out more and post ... alot of break down in software is fied by replacing that file . your be able to do remaps too

Yes dealer diagnostic tools are available for anyone to buy and most of them have a link to the manufacturers website BUT (and theres always a but) they are not cheap you are are looking at 1000's of pounds for access to the systems and hardware.
What i am doing with the 75's is to explore and use existing BMW software (INPA) to talk to the modules using a cheap modified vagcom kkl interface, there is no software hacking involved its just a case of customising the interface to make it "friendly". The T4 system already uses BMW software when it talks to the cars from 1999 onwards so it has a lot of similar files to the BMW INPA system and does indeed list fault codes from various modules, I dont think it will every replace a T4 but will give the opertunity for the owner to scan other parts of the car which the OBDII type readers wont do. |
