If it is a ZT that had a Kenwood stereo, it may not have the K-Bus cable in the audio loom as the Kenwood doesn't use it.
OP's car is a 2003 model and Kenwood fitted from 2002 - on according to Reeb's knowledgeable thread in IT section so you could have hit the nail on the head

Thanks raykay & Chips,

It does have a Kenwood - so, mystery solved hopefully. I'll remove the LSM as suggested by Vmax and see if the elusive ibus/kbus is hiding there. So, when I can get an E-Zee gauge off Vindallo, I'll know where to plumb it in. I am also going to add a connector to attach a Riesler interface to so that I can use navcoder to read the fault codes and run other diagnostics.

Cheers guys.

Smile iBus Found!

I have finally found the elusive ibus.

For anyone just reading this bit, if you have a Kenwood stereo, you may not have an ibus wire behind the radio in the centre console (where it is usually tapped into for fixing an EZ temperature gauge or to add a diagnostic interface etc).

Instead, you can find it behind the LMS (Light Switch Module) on the RHS of the steering wheel, just above the OBD port.

Here are some pics showing where I found it on my 2003/4 MG ZT:

You can see how near-invisible the yellow markings are over the red/white striped cable.

Now all I have to do is tap into this using a scotchblock connector and I am done.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped.

I have read the various threads on the Hans gauge. These describe the ibus cable as red/white with yellow blobs on it. However, I can't find one of these. The closest I have is red/white with no yellow. Here are some pics of the wiring:

Is there another way that I can identify the ibus other than by the cable colour?

Thanks,
Hi

Thank you
