I got told recently ( no idea whether its true or not ) that the reason they are coming down hard now on cars that have been de-cat etc, is that there are roadside emission tests, that run everyday to monitor towns and cities etc, and that these have been above what should be expected with modern vehicles, thus they are now checking more stringently on MOT's and sending in tester cars to MOT stations to make sure they are carrying out the checks correctly.
Does make one wonder. No idea myself, just hearsay. |

Clean it then blank the end that goes into the metal pipe flexi and crimp the small pipe end that the small tube attaches to, looks perfectly normal but stops all the **** that blocks up the erg and the inlet manifold, that's what I did and after de gunning the maniford and blocking the erg she drives perfect and no more smoke trails behind when u rev her out on a spurt. Win win

I think the new regs come into force on the 16th of this month, so you may have been lucky?

Something that's puzzling me... My car passed 2 days ago with a decat. Surely it would of been on the advisory list if it was going to be a problem next year? Or am I wrong (probably)
I just thought if something was wrong with the car they advised you for the next year... Or is It because it doesn't come into affect until the 16th, therefore they cannot give you a advisory on something that is not technically illegal yet? |

However, the Tester would only use the Regulations for your vehicle that were current on the day of the Test! |

Mark, as above, they can only give an advisory if the regulation is currently in force.
Although I would say that some testers would make you aware of the fact of a cat removed if the modification on the exhaust caught their eye. |

I will still risk the next mot, but will keep a close eye on other members experiences. |

I've always MOT'd everything a month early for that very reason! |
