I fitted a Ti pump to replace the original Pierburg, as it was becoming noisy, cheap aftermarket pumps are cheap for a reason........buy cheap, buy twice.

Right, ordered Pierburg from europarts with £79 discount so spent £144. Should arrive in a few days. Need to find out how to fit it now. Hopefully easier than Haynes say as they want me to take loads of stuff apart and way outside my comfort zone. No helpful videos on u tube as far as I can see.

Hi Adrian.
I have added a link for you to follow for fitting the UBP.

I did find this one in my ebay watch list but I am not really sure of it being a genuine pierburg as I can not see the writing on it ? I should imagine it must be genuine otherwise they would not state that, and you would have grounds to return for a full refund.

Not that it makes much difference now as you have purchased one form euro.

You can re-use the clips on the pump as they will clamp back together using long nosed pliers. Arctic

Sounds daft but don’t forget to remove the plastic end caps on the new one, too.

Hi, it's quite an easy job to do..check the pipework when you get the pump out as mine were almost worn through. Bought my pump from DMGRS not exactly whisper quiet as described well, not by the time it got to Spain anyways. If you do change any fuel lines don't use jubilee clips.

How to fit UBFP

Steve/ Artic
Thank you you for sharing your ' how to' guide for replacing UBFP. You made it so easy to understand. My pump arrived yesterday with instructions to replace the filter at the same time. My filter was less than a year old but I quickly bought one from my local parts supplier ( JE Clarke in Stroud, Glos, very good old fashioned personal service) and fitted them both in less than an hour this morning. Got off to a shaky start as battery strap retaining bolt was not keen to come out but after that all went smoothly. I found it tricky to get to the pipe on bottom of UBFP but then realised that by releasing the filter the main plate would just lift out, then I had easy access. Also not seen these types of pipe clips before but found them easy to remove and refit so didn't need any jubilee clips. Primed the filter and it started easily with no loud noise from pump anymore. Switched off immediately hoping priming fluid might clean injector tubes overnight. Wife and I planning journey to Somerset to see my mother tomorrow do will have about 3 hours running time to check out the improvements. Steve I have no idea what you do for a living but if you are not already doing it I am positive you would make a great technical author ! Not for the first time have you given me the confidence to tackle something normally given to garage mechanic. I really enjoyed doing it too. Thank you very much

Hi Adrian.
Nice to hear you managed to sort out your UBP and at the same time enjoyed doing the job, the more you tackle the jobs on your own car the better you get to know it in the long run, with that come the satisfaction knowing you have done the work yourself not hoping if the garage have fixed what they say they have all the best Arctic

Well I've changed all 4 injectors for a known good set & the car still won't start without easy start. I have noticed the high pressure pump makes noise when the ignition is switched is this normal ?

Hey, you want to see him in action, eg replacing a handbrake compensator. There’s a kind of blur, half a wooden chair leg is produced, little plastic fasteners go flying in every direction, suddenly your beloved car is in pieces all over a muddy field in Walsall. You start to panic… then, in the twinkling of an eye, the film goes into reverse, all the bits coalesce again, and you hear him saying “There you are mate “, as he smiles and disappears into the mists again… it’s like something out of The Lord of the Rings.

PS yours isn't that lovely dark blue one parked just off the Bath Road is it?

Hi Trevor.
The noise from the HPFP is it a kind of hiss, if so they make that noise, you say you changed the 4 injectors did you do a leak back test or have a T4 session before deciding to changed the injectors?

You could always have a look at the regulator on the HPFP as sometime the O-rings can fail, fix is £5.10 link below.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-...19.m1438.l2649

Takes about an hour the do the job, engine cover off, air duct off, remove the starter motor then to get good access to the regulator.

Also clean all the electrical connectors, top of the UBP, fuel rail, low pressure pump, and the regulator connector, use residue free electrical contact switch cleaner to do this a little squirt on the part, push on and off a few times before finally fitting tight.
