Please can someone supply a photo or accurate info on where to find it and how to clean it, much appreciated!

Also surly all the parts and hoses either side of the EGR need cleaning too?

for photos of location - its the silver circular thing below the yellow arrow on photo 6.

for close ups of the internals.

Its held on by 4, 10mm nuts and a hose clip that clamps it to the stainless exhaust supply tube and the intake hose.

Red face OMFG!! EGR was caked at 41k

Decided to take the EGR valve off for instpection at 4pm today. My CDTi has done 41k.
I was amazed at how much NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- there was inside it! Also the carbon in the smaller pipe where the braded hose goes in.

What I am now worried about is, if this is the state of the EGR valve what is the rest of the pipe work like???

The big pipe and entrace to the engine is very gungy too, does this need cleaning if so how?

Thanks is advance

The gunge is from oil fumes from the crankcase ventilation system.
The inlet manifold will be covered in it too, but it will be impossible to shift.
