With the current situation where people are spending far more time at home and in their gardens, any disturbance becomes far more obvious. Your neighbour was courteous in her approach and I think should be responded to in a similar manner. You're entitled to store and work on your cars on your property but it is prudent to consider your neighbours even when your activities are above board and legal.
As you've mentioned you're on a new-build estate, I expect the houses are closely spaced and only recently occupied. If you intend to live there long term it would be wise to consider how the community will form and develop, and how your actions with impact on your place in it. As coolguy and others have said, it is your council that is the enforcing authority for noise complaints. Your neighbour is entitled to complain and have the complaint investigated. In reality, prosecutions are not common but it will do nothing to foster goodwill if your neighbour is driven to complain and you are investigated by the council.

Josh, you need to talk to the lady and sort it out, the tone and language she uses is reasonable, there is a problem so you need to speak to her and get some understanding. You need to show you too are reasonable Don't ignore it because if its escalates you have no way of knowing what will result. Chris.S.

I find the messages really condescending, bet no matter what you do she wouldn't be happy about it unless you got rid of everything,
I have a neighbour one side who's outside pretty much everyday messing with his bike, car or scooters, and a neighbour on the other side who's dog barks continously, guess which is my favourite and I talk to regularly |

In all honesty that is how i took it when I first read it. She’s a hobby little 21 year old castleford lass. Always likes to hear her own voice. I’ve carried on the same and spoke to each side of me and their aren’t bothered. I’ve helped her other half with his motorbikes before and lent him tools. I have a feeling he doesn’t know where said it.

Its strange how neighbours attitudes change when they want a favour or to borrow something.
