Has any member used one of these pumps that you attach to your electric drill to pump the oil out there engine? Some of Ebay are self priming and sound a good idea.

Tec question now. How long will the pipe need to be to get to the bottom of me diesel sump via the "dipstick" tube? What EXTERNAL diameter will it need to be to safley fit down me "dipstick" tube? I'm thinking of a microbore tube of the straight variety, will that work or will it need to bend around corners to get to the bottom of me sump?

The Pela comes with the requisite dip tube. This is made from a spring steel spiral (a bit like curtain wire) which has a plastic skin to make it vacuum tight. You just push it straight down the dipstick tube. There's no need for bends, etc. it goes to the bottom of the sump. Don't worry about the corners, etc. these won't drain any better by the conventional method. And you have an oil cooler holding at least half a litre anyway. That never gets drained so it's all academic.
