To stop the bird from landing in the pond off the wing you could anchor some canes in the pond so they stick up a couple of feet above the surface.....maybe tie summit to em that will flutter in the breeze.

You anchor em in the pond in a position which tempts a bird to strike at it, the idea is that the bird will get a fright and go away when it strikes and hits the hard surface.

I have small ornamental posts with rope all around it....then inside of that are more ornaments than you could shake a stick at....There is no way now that he could possibly get to the water.......Otherwise...
