Every year housemartins try to nest under the roof of my house so i put up a carrier bag and it scares em off , i dont shoot em or fry em with leccy.

Heartless !! Heartless thats what you are , and just think of the hungry chick it has to feed.

When i was younger i took a great interest in ornithology and i can assure you these wonderful birds were here long before your piddling fish ponds so do your bit for conservation and keep feeding em .

Good on you George. I'm with the herons too.

Personally I've always had a passion for birds.

How about a light beam that can be broken by the bird which then flashes a bright light or makes a sound ???? Easy to fix up something harmless but effective.

The heron will see that too, but it will do so much clearer and faster. Do your fish not have any refuge other than plants?

Blooming heck John, this is my fish pong not Colditz.... Well i am with the fishes on this... There are enough Lakes and Rivers in Worcestershire for the spindly legged monster to rape and pillage without keep on coming to my pond.....He's going to get what's coming to him if he ain't very careful... Thumbs up

As part of a solution I would place objects (plant pots) around the pond to stop the bird walking up to it.

If you are going to train them to feed you might as well teach them to use a grenade or AK47 or even a rocket propelled grenade. ( Faster than chucking it. )

( PS. How about painting a SHARK on the bottom of the pond ?????? )
