lol, I could barely get my finger into the area never mind a camera, or phone! The picture in the initial post was the best I could do at the time.

If I recall I did remove the EGR, and pipework to give more space above, but is not necessary. Then using the images supplied in the replies (by others) as reference, the bell housing one in particular. I felt for it initially with my finger, and then used a small extension bar, wobbly adapter and socket, and using my fingertip on the end of the socket. Was tight, but roughly below the rubber sheath that is in the image below,

i was lucky in that it removed quite easily. and once the starter was removed, I think I was back up and running in half an hour!

Make sure you disconnect the battery. I forgot on another car years ago - even though I reminded myself as I opened the bonnet to do it! Luckily no damaged occurred but the crack and subsequent sparks soon reminded me. I disconnected the battery before I changed my underwear lol.

Dear clf I have got your red bottom circles. But I'm puzzled about your blue/Green and yellow circles. I have put my fingers behind them and they are smaller than a socket wrench could fit, so what am I missing

Thankyou sir but I must be missing something

It is there, below the rubber sheath ooer matron.

if you look at the top of Frenchmike's image below, from the centre moving to the right, you can see the sheath from below and the bolt also from the other side of the bell housing.I made a mental note of that location and felt for it under the sheath from the head side. It would be roughly if I recall, below the sheath just at the point where the yellow and blue circles intersect on my image.

Thankyou sir but I must be missing something I've got your red circles. BUT the blue circle ? the yellow circle piping looks similar to mine.Coming back to the blue circle have I got to strip the rubber to access a hidden bolt+ what size is the bolt and is it a normal or long socket

Hi Jules, I am honestly in awe of your contribution and knowledge to this forum. enough said. And Thankyou

However you obviously can take a Joke.
So the next time I get a Visa for Wales could you introduce me to some SHEEP, its getting to the point I'm going blind with the Wipe on/off method

IM sure I read an article saying that there were less visually impaired Welshmen compared to the rest of the Uk it had something to do with the natural oils in Wool

I cannot recall exactly, however, I remember at the time, persevering with 'feeling' for the bolt head, and once I realised where it was, (hidden from view because of the sheath) i couldn't believe how simple it turned out to be. It is finding the bolt that was the difficult part, even mounting the socket to it was easier than I imagined.

I can only suggest at this point to get under the bonnet and feel around.

Also, French Mike's picture of the rear of the bell housing, is slightly rotated in comparison to my image. This threw me off a little until I went to the car to do the job.

But mine is an auto also. As I was told prior to doing it 'trust me, it's there' Lol

Try using your socket instead of fingers. That may be easier, as when I found it and slipped the socket below the pipework, I believe it located straight away. Totally blind.
