hi all,
after reading this thread i thought i should check my springs and shocks as my zt does the same on certain roads. the shocks seem fine but i do have a broken o/s/r spring. i have found all these spring codes and colours very confusing. the paint colour on mine is a light green, i would like to know if any of these are suitable as replacements, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1914835442...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3320328484...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT any help or opinions appreciated, please bare in mind as always I'm skint so i am looking at the cheaper end of the market. mark. |

Absolutely don't do it. Unless you can find a sh spring of the correct colour code don't bother.
So many people are selling "rover 75/mgzt" springs as fit all, and as we know the range of springs are huge. You could well end up with a three cornered skateboard, been there done that. |

Funny you should make a thread on this...
Ive noticed the effect MUCH more on ZT-Ts than any saloons. Whether this is something intrinsic to the extra stiffness at the back, or whether its down to all the ZT-Ts being filled with rocks/whatever during their working lives and knackering the chassis mounted trailing arm bushes... who knows! My money is on the trailing arm bushes that hold the front of the arms to the chassis. The rest of the suspension does not allow much lateral movement if all is in order...(upper and lower arm bushes...) Still, there are a LOT of bushes at the back that can all exaggerate the effect. Oh PS..... I did a TOTAL rear suspesion refresh of everything BAR those front trailing arm bushes, and although the effect was BETTER, it was still noticable afterwards. At this point I assumed that it could ONLY be those front arm bushes, as everything else was replaced. Its also exaggerated with soft side wall tyres, but this to me is more of a symptom of the issue, rather than the cause. I dont mean to cause you dismay, but Ive driven a really low milage ZT in wonderful condition, with a cracked rear spring, and it didnt exhibit any of the "side shake" at all.... So my money is not on the spring itself, but naturally that wont be doing any good! |
