If it's an MGB then the batteries are under the rear seat!

there are three succesfull "voltage injections" through side direction repeater in our club. I didnot tested this; no information about v8, I don't know how it works (and how they found out this), but they say that it is working despite the lack of sense.

Maybe this is effect of drain-source link in transistors (which power lamps) in light switch module.

of course it is completely bad idea if main battery is not present (wires can contact each other or body); our club used this method case of totally low battery.

I doubt its an MGB as the don't have them fancy electronic boot locks....

My money is on a Facelift V8 with a flat battery (If it was an FWD car, open the drivers door with the key and pull the bonnet release to get to the battery)

As already posted, the V8 has a main cable in a junction bob on the nearside front chassis leg

Or the battery terminal on the alternator can be used.
