Thanks Glenn, the garage have told me that one wheel is slightly buckled but still useable and balanced OK. I have managed to buy the one Mirage alloy that was on Ebay and I will use it a spare until I have time to paint it to match the others.

I will, I need to replace a track rod end anyway, nothing to do with this just wear and tear.

Hi.
Glad your OK Tim. I've noticed a distinct drop in driving standards over the last few weeks. Every day last week and so far this week there has been some form of accident that I have come across in my travels, mind you last week I drove nearly 800 miles and so far this week 550.
I think at this time of year we need to be extra observant on the roads. Good job you had presence of mind to take evasive action, if not you and the car could have come a cropper!

Glad to hear you are ok Tim, could have been a lot worse, just think another foot or so over and things could have been worse.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I must admit a near miss like this makes you realise you should treat narrow rural roads with respect. If it had happened travelling in the opposite direction I'd have been in Loch Long.

On a positive note, at least the tyres that got shredded were due to be replaced soon anyway. It just forced my hand.

Well, the car is all back in one piece again. The 2 new tyres got put on the front and replaced a couple of Wanli death rings that would have needed changing soon anyway.

I have just finished repairing the wheels (being metallic black makes painting them up pretty easy) and my spare Mirage alloy and tyre arrived today - bought on the 'bay for £34.

Scrubbing the car up tomorrow for the Helensburgh meet on Sunday.

Hope to see some of you there. I'll have some car-care goodies with me if anyone wants some.
