Mine has major crackings in the rubber and in very bad conditions. But now I bought good one and will install it ASAP.
Even with one in bad conditions car drive well. It is not so important like engine mount.

Sorry David, are you definitely talking about the gearbox mount and not the lower engine steady bar/tie rod?

I've had a good look at the mount and pulled it around to check for splits and..... Cannot see anything major. There is some mild cracking round the centre piece and a lot of wear round the rubber end which matchs the markings on the mount, so I belive there is some movement around there, the rubber bush just doesn't seem firm enough to me . I am a bit busy for the next week so ill not be able to do much, however I am thinking about jamming an old drive belt into the bush gap to see if it takes up any slack.

Whilst it was still attached i could rock the engine and the mount rubber would move. Now i cannot see any rips or major cracking in the rubber so do you guys think this mount has failed?

thanks

Before the rain comes I've had another play. Well actually I put it all back together, but I did stuff an old drive belt into the mount and fill it with silicon. Result is car is smoother and it still thuds if provoked but is no way neat as bad. Looks like a new mount is in order.
Next job more coolant probs then its back on the road!!!!!
