A good mod, with the SD1 box.
I think the manual box was always a bit of a weak spot on the V8s, it was a lot of power to handle in those days.
Lovely short shift though, you only had to move it a few inches.

Can a Mod (or Rocker) change the thread to P6 rather than PB?
Easy mistake to make, I was thinking of the P5B with the (B for Buick) when I saw the thread.

Thats ok as mine is technically a P6B as it has the Buick engine so your only missing a 6 in the case of the V8's

I was thinking the old P5B. I would love to have one of them, 'though I hear I might have to wait 'til I'm better known in the (occupation deleted, for fear of falling foul (wahey, alliteration, anyone?) of t'club roolz) world, and thus commanding higher prices. Not that I'd push a P6 out the putative garage either, but I'm more an old school kinda guy (if you'll pardon my American).

And for the record, I'm fond of the SD1 as well - especially with the V8 under the bonnet.

That was Nigel Slater, talking about his Wolverhampton childhood, while being driven in a 1966 D-reg Rover 3-litre saloon, or a P5, looked like the very dark green, I think the same or like our Arden Green on Rover 75s, and I also had a 1965 one in that colour, with Borg Warner 35 very sluggish autobox, second-gear starting and only 3 speeds, but a lovely old bus. Not the later v8s, but having the original straight-six IOE engine.

That's a lovely red, Talago.
Must be lots of interest in this thread! My last 3500 (see pic - sorry for poor reproduction, not my forté) was bought from a dealer who took it as trade-in for a Renault from a retired bank manager from Seven Kings, Essex, at 29000 miles. Later found to have been clocked!

The Davos White AJJ 329G, no longer living. Pic is self explanatory, it was much admired and image used on the club membership card. Can’t recall precise date but must be before 1995. A lovely car, apart from the dreaded fuel vaporisation in high summer in traffic jams on the way to the coast!

I eventually stripped and rebuilt that engine, continually destroyed half-shafts, had wonderful times renewing rear pads (until cutting hole in boot bulkhead!). Great times, happy days.

Love the P6 I've owned two both when I was in my twenties, 2200TC manual an a 3500S auto, great drive. I always liked seeing the tip of the side lights from the cockpit at night, little things and all that

I'm restoring a 73 3500S at the minute.I found the best way to cure crunchy gears is to fit a SD1 5 speed.Worked on my last to P6's.
