I may just come along as I will be staying up near Southwold on holiday. Is it worth meeting up and arriving together?

Could be an idea but I've got to get my Dad first from Earls Colne then double back so would be better if maybe we could hook up nearer the venue. I'll have a look on the maps and see if there is a good meeting point, let me know if you can think of anywhere Would be nice to drive into the course as a mini convoy and park up together.

I'll leave it to you to decide. I'm ok with any location as long as it's got a post code.

Hi there Coolcat,
Thanks for noticing my other post, My new to me ZT should be with me within a week or so. Living in Hingham i am not more than about 15min from Snetterton on a good day. I was familiar with all the uk circuits in my younger years. I was more into karting till my money run out. Thought worth a mention that Snetterton on a touring car weekend is manic, 30,000 people last year. All arriving and leaving via the A11.... If planning a meet there be prepared for the crowds and logistics of meeting them once you are there. This is the circuits premier meeting of the year. The idea of meeting elsewhere nearby and arriving in a mini MG convey makes sense plenty of nice norfolk villiges nearby, how you would keep a convoy given the likely traffic though... The circuit has changed in the last year, a lot of investment has gone into it. Until this took place on normal club meetings you could use your car as a base and drive round the outside of track from bend to bend. Unusually you could also get within the infield, the bit inside the track, great on wetdays and on sunny days space to put down a picnic blanket etc. NOTE none of this is applicable to a Touring Car weekend obviously. Not trying to sound negative the support entertainment on track and elsewhere is 1st class on a touring car W/E. It's a airfield circuit about as far removed from Brands as you will find, which means a lot of walking to get from one part of circuit to another, bearing in mind your car will be parked a longway away in a field (bit like Silverstone...). Having said all this i will try to get there, likely to have a 7yr and 9yr old in tow, would suggest getting there early and timing your departure. PS Weekend tickets are only a fraction more cost than sunday, much better viewing and ease of getting about on the saturday, plus the likelyhood of getting nearer to the drivers/cars later in the day. If you have very young children then saturday almost makes more sense for the above reasons. For public photographers, you could get quite close to certain bends better than others, i always used a 300mm lens, covered most bends and braking areas. hope this assists, will follow this thread with interest Mark |

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the reply and details on Snetterton. I have never been to Snetterton so any information is always appreciated on the logistics of meeting there. Do have plenty of knowledge of other Circuits though in the Uk and abroad as I follow F1, btcc and other events doing Motor sport Photography. Have a look in our photographic corner on here for some of my stuff from Brands, Silverstone, Goodwood and Spa I think I have posted so far I know what your saying about Saturdays but Unfortanantly I work Saturdays and only do race weekends for the F1 stuff when I can justify taking a day off. Glad I never bothered with Silverstone this year mind! Anyhow hope you do get a chance to come down on Sunday and if you have any ideas as to a good place to meet up prior to going into the circuit then do let us know or if you really think its not very viable then maybe a good place to meet once inside the circuit.

There are quite a few places near by, either macdonalds at thetford or if from norwich there is a service station on the a11.
For anyone staying over a visit to the beer festival is a must! http://www.angel-larling.co.uk/our-beer-festival Unfortanotly this could be the last outing of my zt typhoon as she will shortly be up for sale |

Hi Jeff
I am sorry I won't be able to make it up to the Snetterton meeting. I am sure I will regret not going. Such is life. |
