Aldi is good for a lot of things, or so it is said by many (it may be the case I just haven't been in one) but I think highly rated ones can be had cheap enough |

I have one of these it is ace. The cheap ones are a waste of time and not any better than a doing it by hand imho. http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/m...FSb4wgod_XIAAw Last edited by capese21; 11th May 2014 at 19:31.. |

Well I'm going to disagree (a bit) with the majority. The Aldi polisher is a great substitute for elbow grease: sure it's nothing fancy or powerful, but if you're just looking to make a good job - not a full restoration/rescue then it'll certainly help the job go easier. If you're using a polishing compound that gets finer the more it's worked this is a godsend, you'll get a much finer finish than you will doing it by hand - simply because you'll actually work the polish 3 or 4 times more than you would by hand. It's also good for putting on and buffing up the heavier waxes as well.
Right I'm off before I get lynched. P.S At a 10th of the price of the one Capese linked to, just remember it is not going to compete with that, but still better than nothing. (by a quite a long way).

I use one of these http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polish.../prod_673.html which is a superb dual action polisher
However, having made a living from detailing/valeting, I can assure everyone that technique and using the right products by hand can give just as good results in roughly the same time as using a machine and the risk of damaging your paint if you dont know what you are doing is greatly reduced

I bought one of these a couple of years ago, and a box load of polishing heads. I watched a few hours of Youtube 'How To's' and set to work on my GMN 620ti. Clay first! I started on the bonnet with G3 paste compound (not always necessary, but my 620 was very heavily swirled), then a second pass on a softer head with Meguiars Ultimate Compound, then a third pass with a yet, softer pad using Meguairs Paint Renovator. Came up an absolute treat, no burning, marring or swirling. (G3 Compound WILL leave nasty marring, hence stepping down the grade with each pass) It always pays to do your homework & research first, as things can get very messy, very quickly with a rotary MOP. Also, if you can. Find something to practice on, like an old bonnet from the scrappy I am no professional, it always pays to research and practice first before setting to work on your pride and joy.

Got this for my birthday earlier this year. I mopped my caravan and it GLEAMS!
It costs rather more to buy than the one highlighted at the beginning of this post, but it will last for years! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-44190.../dp/B00142B8M2 Last edited by Sidetops; 12th May 2014 at 08:26.. |
