It is for fitting to a phone car kit to mute the stereo. The other end will be in pin 1 of the grey ISO connector.

How did you manage to unscrew the SWC box Stu?
It appears on mine as if it is bolted from the side nearest the bulkhead

The bolt underneath it will allow you to remove it.

Are you replacing the unit for another Kenwood or something else?
If it is something else what is that 'something' as you will probably also require a steering wheel control interface such as the CTSRV006 from connects 2.
You will also need a patch cable from them for the brand of head unit you are going to install

If it is for one of the double din units made for our cars then you won't need the above and can follow the first photo that Stu posted for connecting it up, I.e the two wires black and blue/purple will wire to the two steering wheel control wires on the double din.
The green/white needs to be isolated and not connected to anything as it is a 12volt positive wire.

These wires are found in the black sleeve from the swc and make sure you don't cut straight through them when exposing them from the sleeve as you may short the black ground and green/white positive and blow a fuse

Thanks Jeff.
Was having a look to see whether this is a job that I will be able to manage and hopefully I will now. Fingers crossed that the CD changer comes out as easily.

Will be replacing the unit with something cheap & cheerful for now as a large chunk of my original budget got swallowed up when I saw and ordered a set of Sean's LED rear lights !!
