UPDATE. Went to try the re-sync advice given, however before I did thought I would try keyfobs again.

Darn thing opened the car. Both key fobs opened the car!.

Very strange! Thankfull of course, but totally confused as too why it/they are now working

Do your neighbours have smart door bells by any chance - they have been implicated in effecting the keys signals I recall an Australian poster raised this a few years ago.

I have also noticed on my previous car (ZT-T) that the keyfobs did not appear to work in bright sunlight

I reckon he only thing that can work, not work, then work again without any remedial work is an intermittent receiver problem, there is a very good chance it may happen again or fail completely. I would look at it pro actively and at least unplug the receiver and plug it back in again to omit a connection problem should it happen again.

I had this problem a couple of years ago.Neither fob would open the cars doors when parked on the drive but worked fine away from the house.The culprit turned out to be a neighbours cordless doorbell was stuck down blocking the signal.

Solution came courtesy of Jamie Welch. Thanks.
