I think so too

Thankfully I am aware of where there is one with a matching EWS if it is the culprit.

My knowledge of diesel engines is limited but they are a very simple beast essentially. It does seem my problems are a case of 'Computer Says No' and it is a case of trying to find out why?

The T4 was showing that all readings are roughly where they should be so in theory it should start no problem.

As Russ has said it did run for a few seconds on the contact cleaner at very low revs but enough for the ECU to cut the starter.
Chris only mentioned the fuel as I know Big Russ knows his stuff and armed with a T4 would have already checked everything else I could think of. Good luck with it and let us know what you find.

Chris, it ran for a few secs on easy start..

Is there any way to disconnect all the pesky sensors so just the basic lump can be started?

The idea being, you could then turn them back on one at a time till you find the problem one....

ok james . i just seen big russ said it ran for a few seconds using easy start .. so it has to be something that cant get detected by a machine .hows about air in fuel ? blockage in lines or filter

Have spent probably 8 hours trying to get her started this weekend with Russ.

We've not fully got to the bottom of it. Sometimes the ECU seems to behave normally and sometimes not.

Each time the fault codes were checked they were different.

A security fault keeps coming up, but when the immobilisation is checked it shows that everything is as it should be.

I'm starting to feel that Madge may have given up the ghost and have started to look for a replacement. A cheap Tourer is top of my list. Madge has had a lot of new bits fitted since I bought her so they should provide some good serviceable items to keep another on the road for me if she doesn't spring to life.

Default Non Starter

You may think this is a silly question, are the Injectors being pulsed. If it started on easy start then providing it is getting fuel then the car should at least try to start.

We will see what tomorrow brings

Security fault is shutting off the injectors, despite the car being mobilised correctly by the key when checked on T4 in the immobiliser menu.

As soon as the engine is cranked on the starter the security tamper fault pops up in the EMS.

Resyncing the immobiliser doesn't solve the problem.

Russ

Is it possible to fit another ECU and programme it to your car?

Or. reformat the ECU and do a reinstall (you know what I mean)
