Sorry some time ago since I played with that one.
I am sure it was a straight plug in affair.
Can't find answer in my notes.

Glad to know you are happy. I know these aerials are great, easy to fit and pick up the signal well. I see you are getting 62 channells at 90% strength & 90% quality!! Just shows how good they are.

If anyone else wants one send me a PM.

Ed.

I have a great signal at home with the antenna that came along the unit but very bad reception only 10 miles down the road? How good or bad was your reception with your old antenna at the same spot?

I did not have any old antennas. I tested the amplified ones inside just resting flat on the table not near a window and got 90% quality and 70% signal level. To me that says the aerial is doing its job pretty well.

There is though no aerial that can work perfectly at all times in all locations.

This is a Twin aerial system.

After receiving a replacement for my Wittenberg Antennen Active DVB-T duo today I rushed out to install it. My first one was totally dead even with the twin aerials on the roof, but this time I did get a signal. It wasn't great though and I set about trying to find the best result from the two aerials. Got a great reception with one aerial in the top corner of the rear screen, but no matter where I put the second one it didnt improve reception.

Spurred on by at least partial success I started trouble shooting and found out that with one aerial completely un-plugged I got the same result. The one working aerial also gets the same result regardless of which of the 2 sockets I plugged in to, but the second aerial didnt work in either socket.

Next step was to check the cables, and I confirmed that one cable is not making any connection at all.

To test the connection I needed to take the back off the amplifier, and to my surprise discovered that both inputs are soldered to the same place inside the box.

In other words, this aerial is not a switching diversity amplifier type, it is just a combiner, which means that to get the best result it takes some signal from both of the antenna and adds them together.

Dont know where I got the idea it was a diversity type from, maybe it's £100+ price made me think it must be, but in actual fact all there is inside the amplifier is a 7805 voltage regulator, 3 inductors, 3 resisters, 2 capacitors, and 2 or 3 surface mount chips, one of which is a 4 pin amp chip. I reckon about £5 worth of components at best.

I wouldn't encourage anyone else to rush out and get one of these, the build quality is terrible, and this is now the second one I've had with a fault.

Capese's ones work first time and look good quality as well. What's more you'll probably never need to open one up either.

I still have some left, £24 to members inc of packing and delivery by first class post. If you want you could buy a combiner and input two aerials into it which looks like all the Wittenburg one at £100 does!!

I have had lots of feedback by people using just one though and the results have been excellent.

PM me if you want one.
