Having had another look today in full daylight I think this is the most likely culprit, which means removing the seat... JOY!

Angry Still no further on.

Ok so today I removed the passenger seat and took it into the house to check the runners which are fine there is no obstruction and they move to their full extent in both directions and they are lined up so that they run in parallel to each other. But once back in the car they refuse to move as they should backwards is no problem but forwards they will move past they end of the floor runners, I have even removed them and slid them fully forwards outside the car then refitted them which is no problem but once slid back and then forward again the same thing happens and I cannot see anything fouling their movement underneath they don't feel as though they are meeting resistance they just come to a dead stop. Im really starting to loose patience with these and wish I had never bothered

Fit them with only the Rear Bolts holding them and then try.... And then if it still occurs, try with just the Front Bolts.

I've tried doing that. I've tried with no bolts at all and still doesn't work. I put my old seat back in and that works no problem. Looking at the seats together I can see no difference that would cause this to happen.

The tracks channels can and do twist as they are slackened off, I have had to slightly force them back square on as it were on occasion to enable the removal of the torx bolts, more so on the later mg's.

The only way I can think of to rectify this would be to place a packer washer etc of some sort under the rail directly under the bolt position, but to one side or the other of it, so that it brings it back into square, the seat runners then will not catch and drag, or in your instance grind to a halt.

There is seemingly no rhyme nor reason for this to happen my old seats work fine my new seat works fine sat on my hall floor but as soon as I place it in the car it will not work! I have lost all patience with this now, if I could see what the problem was I could try and find a solution but there is no obvious problem....

The only thing I can think of is that there is something in the car, (tunnel/floor) that is making this happen if it's fine out of the car...??? But obviously something on the replacement seats that is different to your other ones. Is there any visible difference on the underside/side of the actual seat itself?

Nothing looks visually different and I bought the seats as a full set front and rears, the only difference I can find is that the new seats slide further forward on their runners than my originals (by 4cm) but this shouldn't stop them from sliding as they should? Are ZS seats exactly the same including pretensioner and airbag plugs? My new ones have a light grey back panel and map pockets too.

I would take some accurate measurements of the original seat and the replacement, because I'd be surprised if they were the same!
