No need for a multi-meter just to check battery volts and alternator running volts!
You can use the OBD item 9 from memory!! See here for instructions on how to activate! http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...3A+diagnostics Item 9 says battery voltage so follow the instructions to activate in ignition switch position 2 with out starting the engine then you will have the battery voltage then start up with out turning the key backwards and it will indicate the voltage the alternator is putting out - a slight rev up to approx 1500revs is sometimes needed to kick the alternator in to life! Have you checked the electrolyte in the battery , if its low top it up , if your alternators charging , then I would suggest the battery if its topped up just above the plates , take to a battery specialist ask them to do a charging check , and a discharge check , which means putting an ammeter in series with battery lead .
