Thanks very for your efforts, but it was much more complicated than that.
I needed something able to accept all of the data from a weekly timesheet - basic hours; 1.5x hours; 2x hours; On Call charge; Trav & Park; and finally other Expenses; then be able to compare the entire months worth of timesheets against an as paid monthly salary slip. Then keep a running total of the error at the end of each month. My quick manual comparison with only 50% of the timesheet data filled in, is so far suggesting that around 4 out of five of the entries from my monthly payslips are wrong. I was never able to make any sense of them in three years and no one else could, hence the need for a spreadsheet to try to sort out the mess.
