It costs a lot of money to make a car pass US emission / safety standards. i.e. To federalize it.
Rover's last attempt at this (the mk1 800 / XX) The sterling, failed miserably due to shoddy build quality. |

I used to see an old Sterling running around Tulsa when I lived there..... it was not a pretty site poor thing must have had a hard life.......

I know this thread has been dormant for a couple of years, but I stumbled across it and it got me thinking.
The Rover 75 was available across Europe in left hand drive, so why were right hand drive models sent to the USA for testing? Surely it would have made better sense to send LHD examples? |
