Hi Barry.
That gloop is just corrosion where the unit is fixed to the main plate, they are available from Rimmer Bros but are expensive about £95 I think.

It is worth taking it off cleaning it up and see what sort of condition the unit is in. the arm part is available from any BMW place about £8 or you can get them on the bay for

Barry close up of the corrosion, I would imagine once removed from the car this could be repaired to a fashion, maybe a wide cable tie etc, you would know better once it is off the car.

Yeah, Everthing is working, Just when I was fitting a new exhaust, it just looked a bit rough. I will leave well alone until something is breaks!

Wise decision at the moment, wait until the better weather is here then maybe remove it clean it up and re-fit, old saying do not try and fix something that is not broken but best to always maintain it.
